We want to equip people to confidently share the gospel and serve others. Through serving their community and church, we believe people will develop long lasting, healthy relationships with others of the same faith in the same community.

outside the church walls to engage the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ
Located in beautiful East Texas, First Baptist Edom is only 20 miles west of Tyler and 20 miles east of Canton. This is a great fellowship dedicated to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ! For more than 150 years, we have served families in our church and community by providing sound, Biblical teaching and preaching, children and youth programs, as well as opportunities for worship and ministry together. Whether you are a young professional, a family with preschoolers, or a senior adult enjoying retirement, we have a place for you!

Meet Our Staff
Associate Pastor Paul Ebell & Wife Jessica
|
Pastor Paul arrived at FBC Edom in January 2022. Paul has been married to Jessica since 2008. They have a quiver-full of six children: Chay-David, Lydia, Micah, Selah, Silas, and Tabitha. Paul has a passion to help guide the lost in finding hope and purpose in the accomplished and saving work of God through His Son, Jesus Christ, and to be discipled into the Church that God desires for His people to actively walk in (Ephesians 2:10). Paul and Jessica love to engage with people who are in all different seasons of life; whether it is through the Church, homeschooling, activities in the community, disc golf and other sports, to sharing a meal or a cup of coffee in order to build and cultivate relationships that give a platform to glorify God and encourage the glorification of God.
Pastor Paul has over 10 years of service to God’s Kingdom in ministry. Before coming to FBC Edom, Paul and his family served as a Foreign Missionaries for six years in southern Romania. Email - pastorpaul@fbcedom.com |
Worship Pastor Scott Maddox & Wife Colleen

Scott and Colleen have attended FBC Edom since early 2017, and Scott has been Worship Pastor since June of 2018. Scott and Colleen love outdoor activities, especially fishing, and have lived on a small farm near Van since 1991. They have four adult children Julie, Randi, Peter, and Beth.
Scott has been involved in music ministry in varying capacities for 20 years. Prior to coming to FBC Edom he had served as Worship Leader for Garden Valley Bible Church and Colfax Baptist Church, and continues to serve as Worship Leader on a rotational basis for Mercy Ships. Student Pastor Peter Maddox & Wife Alli

Student Pastor Peter Maddox is an ETX and Van native. He graduated from VHS in 2015 and from UTT in 2019 with his BSN. Peter is married to Alli Maddox and they both have a heart and passion to disciple young people and see them grow in their relationship with the Lord. Peter has been serving at FBC Edom since 2018 as a volunteer and accepted the calling as student pastor in 2021. Peter and Alli seek to grow the kingdom of God by investing time into the lives of individuals through fellowship, discipleship and through the ministry of availability.
Both Peter and Alli have a heart for missions as well. Peter has served the Lord in Africa on multiple trips as well as Southern Europe. Alli has served the Lord in Latvia and Utah. Children's Ministry Director - Sheila Walters & Husband Kris

Shelia, her husband Kris and their family come from Pennsylvania before moving to the area in 2014. Shelia has a passion for sharing God's word with children and strives to reach every child in their own unique way of learning.

Mission Pastor Juan Venegas (Hatillo Mission Project)

Juan and Kimberly are missionaries sent by FBC Edom in Costa Rica. Juan has been in music ministry since he was a young adult and served as the Associate Pastor at Manos de Dios Church for three years where he has both lead worship and preached.
He has been married to Kimberly since 2013. Together, they have two energetic and loving children, Heyko and Falon. During their free time, they love to discover new camping sites and venture into new natural pools, read the bible and meditate on the word in the middle of nature. Juan’s greatest desire is to reach souls for Christ through the preaching of the true gospel of Christ.
